DoT notice to Idea over renting of SIM
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  08 Jan 2010

The DoT has issued a show cause notice to Idea Cellular over allegedly renting out SIM cards to a sales agency, reports the PTI.

As per the notice 3,640 SIMs were rented out by Idea to Limco Sales Corporation. This is against the rules and regulations as SIM cards are to be activated only after proper documentary proof and verification.

"M/s Idea Cellular (ICL) has issued 3,640 bulk post-paid connections in the name of Sumit Khanna and his company M/s Limco Sales Corporation... on account of giving these connections for rental use," says the DoT notice. "Such an act is a serious threat to the security of the nation," adds the notice.
