Bharti undergoes organizational restructuring; Kohli to head newly created Global biz division
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  14 Jan 2010

Bharti Airtel created a separate International Business Group to be headed by current CEO of the company, Manoj Kohli and also elevated Deputy CEO, Sanjay Kapoor to the post of CEO.

The new business division has been created with an aim to expand the company’s presence in other international markets apart from the South Asian region. Kohli will be the CEO and Joint MD of this new division and will continue to be a member of Bharti Airtel’s board.

Sanjay Kapoor in his new role will oversee the mobile, telemedia, DTH and enterprise services business of the company.

“The next phase of our journey is set to be another game changer — requiring superior thrust and focused leadership. We continue to win in the Indian telecom market, which is going through a phase of hyper competition. At the same time, we will be developing comprehensive plans for our journey to cover emerging markets beyond India and South Asia,” Chairman and MD Sunil Mittal said. “Bharti Airtel is one of the finest management teams in the country and a strong leadership pipeline. This structure will leverage our management depth and build a strong platform for fulfilling our global vision,” he added.
