Vodafone UK relaunches femtocell device
TT Bureau |  |  21 Jan 2010

Vodafone UK earlier this week launched its femtocell device, Sure Signal targeted towards wireless broadband subscribers.

The new device promises delivery of speeds of up to 1 Mbps. It can be registered by up to 32 different mobile phones and can be used by up to 4 Vodafone handsets.

On Monday, Vodafone UK relaunched its femtocell product, hoping that new pricing and a shiny new brand will encourage take-up of the 3G-boosting devices.

The operator is offering the device for £50, or £5 per month for a year on plans of £25 or more per month. For those with plans of less than £25 per month, Sure Signal will cost £120, or £5 per month for 24 months.

Femtocells are small cellular base stations using broadband connections for backhaul, intended to extend coverage and offload the mobile macro network in home and small office environments.
