TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  10 Feb 2010

ZTE Corporation like its Chinese counterpart, Huawei Technologies is gradually emerging to be another serious challenger to incumbent vendors such as Ericsson, Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN).

ZTE says that it recorded over 750,000 shipments for its GSM solutions in 2009 with its market share now standing at 20% making it among the top 3 GSM equipment vendors across the world.

Last year alone saw the company deploying its GSM solutions to global players such as Telenor, Teliasonera and Cell C.

The company is consistently clocking growth of over 100% each year since 2004 for its GSM solutions. It caters to over 70 countries spanning across China, Hong Kong of China, South Africa, Russia, India, Indonesia and Algeria.

The company takes to credit the introduction of now popular SDR-based GU dual-mode base stations for which is also won the GTB Innovation Award.
