VAS solution enabler, Comviva claims that it has successfully deployed a new electronic top-up platform for Safaricom in Kenya enabling the operator’s over 13 million subscribers to avail of e-recharge services.
Comviva deployed its PreTUPS™ solution as part of the project. The solution is based on open-standards and will also enable Safaricom’s postpaid subscribers to pay their bills via channel members.
“We are excited about the greater convenience, flexibility and simplicity we will be delivering to our customers with PreTUPS™. With ‘anytime, anywhere, any amount’ e-top-up and transfer capability, we will be able to improve the range and timeliness of prepaid services available to our customers. We also see an opportunity to enhance the flexibility and extend our network of distributors and channels – bringing improved service levels and improved satisfaction to our customers,” comments Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph.
“We are very pleased to be supporting Safaricom as it enhances the prepaid top-up and talk-time transfer experience of its end customers. With PreTUPS™ now deployed by more than 25 operators around the world and proving highly successful in enabling mobile services to be extended affordably to new, often low income, segments, we are confident that Safaricom will continue to grow its subscriber base and that its subscribers will enjoy the greater flexibility provided by PreTUPS™, such as voucher digitization and process automation that will enable Safaricom to synchronize supply and demand in real-time, improving their ability to satisfy customer demands instantaneously,” says Mao Mohapatra, CEO, Comviva.
Comviva claims that it handles over 30 million top-ups daily in a single installation and powers e-recharge for more than 65 million subscribers in one customer network. |
