Microsoft unveils its new Windows Mobile 7 OS

Microsoft launched the latest version of mobile operating system for mobile handsets.

 

The new version, Windows Mobile 7 will be an advanced version of the currently available Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system which was launched just recently ni October 2009.

 

Microsoft Director for Mobile Division, Nicolas Petit termed the new OS as a major new step in the company’s strategy. "It is a total break from what we were doing before," said Petit.

 

The new OS offers a platform to enable handset manufacturers provide a a "dynamic screen" allowing users to install their favourite icon, from music, to contacts and social networks. According to Microsoft, the new OS version is inspired by the design of Zune, which is a Microsoft MP3 player.

 

Windows Mobile 7 addresses applications related to inbox, emails, text messages, social networking sites, Xbox Live for online games.
