TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  31 Mar 2010

Google launched a new tool, Google Shopping enabling internet users in India to get information about products and their prices online.

The new tool scans through information about products and prices automatically by scanning millions of Indian Web pages and extracts product names, prices and images as per the user’s search request.

The tool will offer information from more than thirty thousand Indian Internet sites into a single page.

Vinay Goel, Google India (head of products) said, "This new tool is designed to help users make decisions faster and find deals online enhancing their research experience."

Google says that its research shows that online search is an integral part of the product purchase decision process made by Indian users with consumers spending 35 % of their time researching for products online before they make a purchase decision.
