Luminous which is known for its power and energy solutions including batteries and inverters announced its foray in the mobile phone market under ‘Wynncom’ brand. The company has earmarked $ 25 million as initial investment for the foray.

The company will create a separate entity, Wynn Telecom Limited which will take care of the mobile phone business. Wynn Telecom aims to cater to all the segments with value for money proposition.

 “This move is a part of the company’s strategy to offer more consumer products under the umbrella of convergence and the company aims to capture a place among the top brands,” said Mr. Rakesh Malhotra, Co-Founder and Chairman, Wynn Telecom Ltd.

The company says that it has set up a product, quality and project team in Shenzhen to look after the on-ground activities. The company will be initially launching seven models of dual SIM handsets in the sub Rs 5,000 price range. The launch will be in May this year.

“Distribution and after sales service will be the strengths of our brand,” added Malhotra.

The company says that the product range will consist of Utility phones, Upgrade Phones and Youth Phones.
