Bharti Airtel reported a drop of 8% in net profit at Rs 2,055 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. Revenues for the quarter were at Rs 10,056 crore at a yearly rise of 2%.
"Bharti Airtel continues to be strongly positioned in India despite a hyper competitive market," Bharti Airtel Ltd Chairman & Managing Director Sunil Bharti Mittal said.
The board of the company also proposed a dividend of Rs 1 per share on the face value of Rs 5 per share for the financial year 2009-10.
For the year ended March 31, 2010, the company managed a net income of Rs 9,103 crore at a growth of 7%. Yearly revenues rose to Rs 39,615 crore from Rs 36,962 crore last year.
ARPU saw down from Rs 305 in March 2009 to Rs 220 at the end of March 31, 2010.
The average rate per minute for the company was at Rs 0.47 from Rs 0.63 last year. Even the minutes of usage per user were down from 485 minutes to 468 minutes.
Contribution of messaging revenues to the total revenues were however on a positive trajectory rising from 3.7% to 5.7% in a year’s time.
