UTStarcom announced a new business alliance with Ruckus Wireless to offer wireless IPTV solutions for the Indian market. The alliance will lead to enabling service providers to offer IPTV services without any wired connection between the DSL and the set-top-box.
Ruckus’ MediaFlex will be connected to a broadband gateway router and Ruckus multimedia adapter will be connected to UTStarcom’s set-top-box.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Vijay Yadav, Managing Director, UTStarcom, said, “Awareness and adoption of IPTV has been gradually increasing in India. UTStarcom being the clear leader in broadband and IPTV in India deems it an important responsibility to contribute proactively to the growth of the industry and address the challenges and provide value added services to its customers. In-house cabling is a very important concern faced by the IPTV service providers and through this partnership, the service providers will be able to solve this issue and enhance consumer experience. End consumers have always had a concern on the aesthetics of their homes being spoilt with the cable wires running across their living rooms and the solution provided by UTStarcom – Ruckus partnership will be a boon to them”
Mr. Sudarshan Boosupalli, General Manager - India Operations, Ruckus Wireless, said, “Ruckus wireless MediaFlex series is specifically developed for operators to distribute multiple streams of HD IPTV content throughout a subscriber's home without costly and time-consuming cable installation. Through this association, UTStarcom will sell MediaFlex products as part of its IPTV solution to its customers.” While highlighting about advantage, Mr. Boosupalli added, “MediaFlex will enable UTStarcom’s RollingStream(R) IPTV solution with rapid deployment of quad-play services and flicker-free distribution of concurrent high definition MPEG-2 IPTV streams.” |
