 Huawei Technologies marked its entry in the Indian open market handset segment with the launch of new series of devices named as “Hangout” and “Android” developed in tie-up with chipmaker, Qualcomm.
The handsets will be commercially available from August 01, 2010.
While the Hangout series will mainly cater to the entry-level and mid-level segments, the Android range will offer open source-based smartphones.

Through the launch of these products, we hope to enrich lives of Indian consumers.”
Speaking on the occasion, Kanwalinder Singh, president of Qualcomm India and South Asia and Senior Vice President of Qualcomm said, “Qualcomm welcomes Huawei’s entry into the open market in India with the launch of a compelling range of handsets and smartphones based on 3G and CDMA/EVDO technologies. We believe millions of Indians will soon have their first mobile Internet experience on such devices. Huawei’s expertise to deliver innovative 3G devices based on our chipset solutions will expand the mobile Internet experience to a large base of Indian consumers.”
Huawei showcased four such handsets namely, U9130 targeted towards the youth, the C5600 that is a CDMA phone positioned around its music features, the U8300 targeted towards the youth and business class with social networking features incorporated and the U8500 positioned around its chatting and social networking capabilities. |
