The government informed the Rajya Sabha that GSM operators collectively owed it Rs.451.74 crore towards licence and spectrum fees.
"The total amount outstanding including interest against GSM operators as on March 31, 2010 is Rs 451.74 crore," said Minister of State for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot.
Of the total amount, Bharti Airtel owes Rs.135.11 crore towards spectrum fees and Rs.0.44 crore towards licence fees. Vodafone Essar owed the government Rs.71.77 crore towards spectrum fees while RCom owed Rs.48.54 crore towards licence fees. BPL Mobile Comm owns Rs 29 crore in license fee dues, Aircel Rs 0.44 crore, BSNL Rs 94.44 crore, MTNL Rs 0.73 crore and Dishnet Wireless Rs 13.91 crore.
MTNL owes Rs 16.49 crore in spectrum charges, BPL Cellular Rs 10.83 crore, Ideal Cellular Rs 7.07 crore, Reliance Telecom Rs 4.03 crore, Aircel Cellular Rs 0.9 crore, Dishnet Wireless Rs 0.15 crore, Etisalat Rs 0.11 crore and Unitech Rs 0.06 crore.
The Minister of State informed the House that the matter is before the Supreme Court for hearing as the operators have challenged the basis of calculation of the dues particularly related to the definition of adjusted gross revenue (AGR). |
