Tata Teleservices (TTSL) Ltd. launched Tata Photon Wi-Fi Pocket Router offering wireless broadband services up to speeds of 3.1 mbps while on downlink and 1.8 mbps while on uplink.
The router comes with an in-built battery for 2.5 hours of seamless operation and sports a RJ45 Ethernet port for local area network (LAN) support.
“TTSL has always believed in introducing innovative products and solutions in the telecom industry, with the objective continually upgrading the telecom experience of our subscribers,” Anil Sardana, Managing Director of Tata Teleservices Limited, said. “Our latest offering—Tata Photon Wi-Fi Pocket Router—reaffirms that commitment, making connectivity easy and relevant for a cross-section of user categories. This portable device marks a breakthrough in the Wi-Fi space and is yet another first-of-its-kind product in the country,” he added.
According to TTSL, the Wi-Fi router will specially be useful for devices such as laptops, desktops, i-Pads, mobile phones, even digital cameras that have Wi-Fi capability.
“The innovative new product allows not just Internet and e-mail access, but caters to a host of other applications as well through any Wi-Fi-ready device, such as large file downloads, photographs, spreadsheets, and much more. Best of all, given its Wi-Fi capabilities, it allows multiple users to stay connected simultaneously,” said Lloyd Mathias, Chief Marketing Officer of Tata Teleservices Limited. “The TATA Photon Wi-Fi Pocket Router is slim and compact, making it convenient to carry even in one’s pocket. With this new product, TTSL has taken the concept of ‘Anytime, Anywhere’ to the next level,” he added.
Initially the router will only be available in the cities of Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The device is priced at Rs.6,500 but is available for an introductory price of Rs.4,999. |
