Operators will have to be MNP compliant before launch of any new service
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  12 Aug 2010

In a move to imply that it means business when it comes to implementation of mobile number portability (MNP), the DoT notified on Wednesday that operators will be allowed to offer new services only in case they are MNP compliant.

The move will come into effect from September 01, 2010.

The government has already extended the deadline for MNP introduction in the country numerous times. The latest deadline is October 31, 2010.

The DoT has now informed the operators that all inter-operator tests for porting the numbers from one service provider to another are completed before September 1, 2010.
