OnePlus 2 Flagship smartphone launched in India at Rs 24999 – First impressions

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus, on Tuesday announced its latest flagship smartphone OnePlus 2 in the Indian market for Rs. 24,999. The OnePlus 2 boasts top of the line specs, one of the best cameras on the market, beautiful design and the adoption of state of the art technology.

We chose premium materials, the highest performing components and forward-thinking technology to make this an unparalleled user experience,” said Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder and CEO.

India is an important market for us and our fans are sure to get their hands on OnePlus 2 simultaneously with the rest of the world,” said Vikas Agarwal, General Manager - India, OnePlus.
 
OnePlus 2 features a 5.5 inch full HD in-cell display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and 1500:1 contrast ratio. It is powered by a 1.8GHz 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB internal storage. The device sport dual 4G Nano-SIM cards as well as USB Type-C connectivity.
 
OnePlus 2 sports a 13 megapixel rear camera with a 1.3-micron sensor, laser autofocus, dual-LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 4K video recording, RAW image support, and OIS. It also houses a 5 megapixel front camera. The device is power backed by a 3300 mAh battery. It has a fingerprint sensor that can store up to 5 prints and unlock in under 0.5 seconds. It weighs 175 grams and is easy to hold. OnePlus 2 will also launch the 16GB variant of the device with 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM and it will be available later this year at Rs. 22,999.
 
The OnePlus 2’s display outperforms in direct sunlight with 178 degrees of crystal clear viewing angles. In addition to OnePlus’ signature Sandstone Black, consumers now have access to a range of covers including actual wood built Bamboo, Black Apricot, Rosewood and even Kevlar.
 
Equipped with a USB Type-C charging port, OnePlus is paving the way for the adoption of USB Type-C technology, the latest in charging and data transfer. Taking it one step further, the OnePlus charging cable uses patented technology making the Type-A side reversible as well.
 
The OnePlus 2 is the first device in the world to ship with OnePlus’ own operating system, OxygenOS. “With the OnePlus 2, we're making a bet on the future, and doubling down on a holistic product experience,” said OnePlus Co-founder, Carl Pei. “We're excited for what our fans have to say.”
 
OxygenOS, based on Android 5.1, is a refreshing take on the pure Android experience. Subtle customizations like on screen gestures, dark mode, the ability to switch between hardware and capacitive buttons and toggle quick settings are baked in throughout the OS. Loaded with custom apps including Camera, Audio Tuner and File Manager, OxygenOS delivers a light, secure take on Android.
 
The 64GB OnePlus 2 will be available for purchase with an invite in India starting August 11th for Rs. 24,999/- exclusively on Amazon. The 16GB OnePlus 2 with 3GB LPPDR4 RAM will be available later this year.
