Tata Communications posted a five-fold increase in its Q4 net profit to reach Rs 302.37 crore as compared to Rs 56.03 crore. Profit for full year for the fiscal 2008-09 was Rs 515.95 crore as compared to Rs 304.9 crore last year.

For Q4 revenues from telecom services scaled to Rs 886.93 crore from Rs 855.53 crore during the corresponding quarter last year. For the full year, revenues from services were recorded at Rs 3,749.43 crore as compared to Rs 3,312.39 crore last year.

On a consolidated basis net profit was Rs 315.80 crore (Rs 10.3 crore in 2007-08) and revenues were Rs 9,963.17 crore (Rs 8,297.41 crore in 2007-08).

Company’s Board of Directors recommended a dividend of Rs 4.50 per equity share of Rs 10 each. The stock exchanges however responded negatively to the results with the company’s shares down 6.64 % to Rs 545.70.
