If you don’t have a 4G mobile and wish to have unlimited access for two months then this could be a good time to be an MTNL subscriber. Available only in Delhi and Mumbai telecom circles, new MTNL prepaid users will get unlimited mobile data for 60 days if you buy a new SIM card and activate it before January 31. However, note that MTNL offers only 2G and 3G speeds in both Delhi and Mumbai. This means you can get a maximum download speed of around 256 Kbps.
There is no minimum recharge plan to avail the data offer, however, there is no voice call or SMS message benefits. To buy a new MTNL prepaid SIM, you will have to visit any Sanchar Haat or an MTNL retailer. The data offer is valid only till January 31. Recently, MTNL had announced five unlimited voice and data plans for Rs 171, Rs 197, Rs 231, Rs 365 and Rs 421 respectively for prepaid subscribers in Delhi/NCR only.
The MTNL plan for Rs 171 offers 1.5GB of 3G mobile data per day along with unlimited local and STD voice calls and 100 SMS in its home network for a period of 28 days. At a price of Rs 197, MTNL is offering 2GB of mobile data for a validity of 35 days. The main difference is that the data is free during national roaming as well. However, free voice and SMS is applicable in the home region only. MTNL will charge 3 paise per 10KB post the data limits. Also, the Rs 197 plan is only valid for those subscribers who do a fresh recharge.
The MTNL Rs 231 plan will provide 2.5GB of 3G mobile data per day along with a validity of 42 days. Voice and SMS benefits are same. MTNL is offering 3GB of mobile data per day at Rs 365 and Rs 421. The Rs 365 plan has a validity of 70 days while the Rs 421 plans offers a validity of 84 days. Both the plans entitles subscribers to free voice and SMS.
