Detailed Review
Design:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 620 comes with 7 inch PLS TFT display, and is one of the sleekest Tab in the galaxy family. The advantage of this design is its weight of 345 grams. It measures 193.65 mm, 122.37 mm and 9.96 mm in height, width and depth. On its top is a 3.5 mm earjack whereas on the bottom it has the speakers, the mic and the connectivity port. The power button as well as volume rocker are placed at the right side of the device. The MicroSD card slot, infra red port and a SIM card slot are at the left side of the device. It has round edges and is framed with thin aluminum to cover the screen. One big problem with the Tab is that its battery can't be removed. But this is a common issue with most of tablets in the market. It feels more comfortable and portable while using it and is handy too. It can also fit into our jeans and trouser pockets. The design is very much similar to its earlier versions.
Interface/OS:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system. This might be the only reason to think again for this device as there is no planned upgrade in the near future. It comes with a Dual core 1.2 GHz processor. This android version is well supported with this device and due to this faster processor, users can easily download and run apps hassle free.
Camera:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 supports a 3.15 megapixels rear camera with LED flash and auto focus. It also has 2 megapixels front camera. The camera embedded in the devise is fine and image quality is good too but with proper lights. Camera captures video too but with VGA effects at 720 pixels at 30 frames per second.
Memory:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 620 comes loaded with 1 GB RAM and internal memory storage of 16 GB, upgradeable to 48GB with the help of a 32GB microSD card. It is also capable of showing full HD videos in 1080p.
Battery:
The Galaxy tab 620 comes loaded with a 4000 mAh battery. Our tests showed that it easily survived over 12 hours during cases of moderate social media updates, emailing, browsing on 3G and listening to music. It also lasted for about 7 hours with a 1080p videos being played in loop. While we did not make many phone calls with the tablet, we are confident that the tablet should easily last the day for a regular user.
Features:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is filled with lot many features. Google Maps, aGPS, MMS, instant messaging, e-mail and personal organizer functions all exists in-built. For connectivity you get various options in-built like: Wi-Fi (to enjoy wireless network), Bluetooth 3.0 that helps in sharing data, photos, videos, etc. with other devices. USB 2.0 helps to connect you device with TV or Computer/Laptop, 3.5 mm audio jack (to enjoy music, Radio and Videos), the much hyped ChatOn service (enables single and multi-person conversations, multimedia file sharing and even more) and Samsung Kies Air (that help you syncing data with your PC/Laptop). For internet Samsung Galaxy Tab has many options pre installed like: Layer reality browser, android browser, GPRS, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA 7.2 MBPS. Facebook, Twitter and you tube is embedded in it and the social hub offers a fully incorporated one page layout of your phone book, IM, e-mail and SNS. Music hub offer an extensive catalog of popular and classic songs along with artist information, album art, critics’ reviews and more. It also Allows to easily access commonly-used features such as voice call, calendar, PenMemo, World Clock, Calculator and Task Manager.
Conclusion:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 620 is among the best 7 inch tablet in the market, and at Rs. 25,990, it is a very good option to opt for. It comes with class and quality. It has great selection of apps. The camera work is good and could have been better, but the battery life is good and the features embedded are better and abundant. But instead of Android 3.2 honeycomb it could have been 4.0 ICS (Ice cream Sandwich).
We give this tab 4.5 star rating.
