Interface/OS:
Samsung Wave Y runs on Bada 2.0 operating system. It has an 832 MHz Scorpion processor supported by 512 MB RAM. When tested, the browsing on this interface with power packed processor and 512 RAM was a great experience with fun. The speed was good but when on 3G multitasking and swapping applications was slower. Its TouchWiz user interface is easy to personalize and access. The only disadvantage of Bada OS is that, it lacks with applications and updates.
Camera:
This is probably the weakest section for this device. Samsung Wave Y comes with an average 2 megapixels camera with 1.4X digital zoom. The camera quality of Samsung Wave Y is normal. When tested, the outdoor images captured were fine and clearer in colours The Wave Y camera supports JPEG, PNG, GIF, WBMP, BMP and AGIF image type. It allows multiple shot modes, Single, smile shot, panorama and night. The indoor shoots were even good. The Wave Y camera has a 1600 x 1200 pixels image resolution.
Audio/Video:
Despite its slim in look, the Samsung Wave Y has not compromised with its voice/sound quality. The sound quality when tested was good with headphones and even when on speaker mode. Samsung Wave Y supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, EAAC+, 3GA, M4A, WMA, FLAC and OGG audio formats. Like other wave phone, Wave Y also has a Stereo FM radio with RDS and recording too. The video quality of this phone is wonderful. It features HVGA recording and playback at 30 frames per second. The video call quality from 2 megapixels front facing camera is not satisfactory. It supports 3GPP, H.263, H.264, MPEG4 and WMV video formats. When tested, the video captured from the camera was below average.
Memory:
The Samsung Wave Y is rich in aspect of memory space too. In built it gives you 150 MB of memory with a micro SD card space of up to 32 GB more with support of 512 MB RAM. Surely, this can be the key for many people who love to keep their favorite playlist of audio/video with them.

And when tested, battery performed admirable results on 2G and above average on 3G. Conclusion:
The Samsung Wave Y is certainly a promising smartphone in this price range and segment. It do not offers long list of in-built features/applications that exist in all latest Android phones. The big 3.2 inch screen is satisfactory and offers good display. The weak processor and RAM sometimes give hassle while browsing. Overall, the Samsung Wave Y is a good smartphone, but its 832 MHz weak processor is not that satisfactory comparing to other Samsung Android smartphones.
