TRAI calls for cancellation of pan-India licences of Loop and Etisalat

India’s telecom regulator, the TRAI on Thursday called for cancellation of licneces of those companies which had failed to rollout services as per rollout obligations.

The list includes all the licences granted to Etisalat in 15 circles and all the licences granted to Loop in 20 circles.  

The regulator asked the government to cancel 70 2G licences granted to players including Etisalat, Videocon, Uninor, Loop and Sistema Shyam as these companies had failed to rollout their networks in some or all circles.

TRAI called for cancellation of Sistema Shyam’s licences in 10 circles, Uninor’s licences in 8 circles and Videocon’s licences in 10 circles.
