BSNL Union wants PM to sack Dayanidhi Maran

The National Federation of Telecom Employees of the BSNL Chennai Circle held a demonstration here today, demanding that the prime minister sack minister for textiles, Dayanidhi Maran for his alleged involvement in laying telephone cables when he was telecom minister, that were reportedly used by the Sun TV group, controlled by his brother Kalanithi Maran .

CK Mathivanan, deputy general secretary of NFTE-BSNL told ET that about 200 members of the union had participated in the demonstration that was held in front of the head post office here today.

Mathivanan said NFTE-BSNL union demanded that the government should reclaim the Rs 440 crore that was reportedly lost to Chennai Circle of BSNL owing to alleged irregularities caused during the tenure of Dayanidhi Maran as telecom minister, and that immediate action should be taken on the CBI report regarding the same, that was submitted to the Department of Telecom in 2007.
