TT Correspondent |  |  09 Jun 2011

Huawei Devices is aiming to take its share in Indian GSM handset market to 15% of the Indian handset market by 2015, president for India device business Victor Shan said on Wednesday.

according to reports the telcom giant is also planning to invest 5-6% of its Indian revenues coming from selling devices into augmenting distribution channels and retail point of sales. The company earned $ 490 million from Indian device revenues last financial year.

Sales from the CDMA handset market in India have dropped from 8 million to 3 million over the last three years, also instigating it to look at other avenues. However, Huawei executives said the company would not exit the business if market demand remains.
