China telco major Huawei will launch two Google powered India specific media tablets. The company plans to sell these two tablets in India in the third quarter along with their global launch.
Both new products will have 7-inch screens and will be powered by Google Inc.’s Android operating system. While the flagship model will be priced at around `25,000, the other will cost less than `20,000. The basic version of Apple’s iPad is priced at `29,500.
“We see a growing demand for tablets in India. We will bring in two products as part of the global launch,” Mr Sanjeev, Director (Sales) of Huawei Telecommunications (India) Company Private Limited, said. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said the company would reach out to 25-30 cities by the year end. He said the company would invest $2-billion on expansion plan in India. The plan includes expansion of its Chennai manufacturing facility, on India-specific product and content and on brand-building in the country.
The product creation centre that Huawei is currently establishing in Bangalore will develop India-specific applications. |
