Chinese IT vendor ZTE has confirmed plans to start producing tablet PCs in Brazil. ZTE has finalised an agreement with local Brazilian partners to produce tablets within the country by August 2011. Hou Weigui, president of ZTE, confirmed the move during a meeting with Dilma Rousseff, president of Brazil.

ZTE stated that it would start production with local partners in August 2011 and the devices produced would be sold in the Brazilian market. ZTE is also establishing its own facility in Hortolandia, close to Sao Paulo. This plant will start operating in 2012 and will produce both mobile phones and tablets.
