BlackBerry exploring option of setting up regional data centres
TT Correspondent |  |  14 Oct 2011

Perturbed by the recent 3-day disruption of its services affecting millions of its customers across globe,   Research In Motion, the maker of BlackBerry devices is thinking in terms of setting up regional data centers to ward off any possibility of outage in future.

Our immediate focus is on getting back the services to where we would like it to be. We will leave no stone unturned to make sure that this does not repeat. All options, including setting up network architecture with regional hubs, are on the table. If that makes sense, we will do it.” said Mr Patrick Spence, Senior Vice-President and Managing Director, Global Sales & Regional Marketing, RIM while interacting with the Indian media via tele-conference.

Yesterday RIM apologized to its customers letting them down in the backdrop of disruption of its services.
