2G: Swamy deposes as witness, says Chidambaram should be made accused
TT Correspondent |  |  17 Dec 2011

Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy on Saturday reiterated that home minister should be made an accused in 2G spectrum allocation case as he was party to the decision taken by the then telecom minister A Raja

Seeking prosecution of Chidambaram on Saturday, Swamy said that Chidambaram as the then finance minister took joint decision to fix spectrum prices along with Raja.  Swamy on Saturday deposed as witness in support of his private complaint in the case.

He told Special CBI Judge O P Saini that Raja took the decision of fixing the rate of spectrum charges at nominal price fixed in 2001 with the “active connivance of P Chidambaram so he (Raja) alone could not be guilty.

To support his argument mentioning a February 24, 2011 Rajya Sabha statement of the Prime Minister that pricing of spectrum was taken on the basis of a cabinet decision of 2003 which specifically said that the issue would be determined by the Ministry of Finance and Department of Telecommunication.
