Nokia has admitted that its recently launched Lumia 800 - has battery problems. This could possibly affect its sales prospects as the company hopes to lead the smartphone race on the strength of its two high-end Windows Phone 7.5 powered handsets, Lumia 800 and Lumia 710.
The problem was brought to notice by some customers who posted comments on several social media sites that the preloaded diagnostics tool in some of the Nokia Lumia 800 phones was showing lower battery capacity than expected.
The Finnish company admitted that Lumia 800 has a poor battery which will require users to charge their phone more frequently than normal.
The problem is with the software of the smartphone and not with its battery. The software in some variants is not allowing the phone to access its full battery capacity, said the company, said Nokia in a statement.
Nokia has said that it would to fix the problem with a software update in "early 2012" which will enable the affected phones to access the total battery capacity. The company also plans to include other performance enhancements with the promised update. Nokia has also offered to replace the handset for those who don't want to wait for the software update. |
