The cross-examination of former Raja aide Aseervatham Achary will continue on Tuesday. The 2G trial on Monday had to be adjourned on Monday after the later complained of illness. The former telecom secretary and accused in 2G spectrum allocation case Siddharth Behura’s counsel will continue questioning him.
Achary during his interrogation by Raja’s lawyer on Monday gave a short shrift to all the allegations levelled against him.
While Raja’s counsel Sushil Kumar completed Achary’s cross examination, it was during his questioning by Behura’s counsel that he told court about his not being able to continues because of illness.
During his cross-examination by Raja’s counsel, Acahry denied that he decided to depose against the former telecom minister and became CBI’s mole as he was facing allegations of amassing wealth disproportionate to his income.
Achary also denied that he revealed the 2G scam story to an English newspaper as raja was averse to his joining the Congress. He also contested the contention of defense counsel that he was a manufactured witness and had fallen into CBI’s trap two years back in 2009 much before the agency questioned him.
Sushil Kumar told the court that CBI made Achary a witness in the case as it lacked evidence to link Raja to these executives in 2G case.
Achary in his testimony against Raja had alleged that the five corporate honchos were in touch with him (Raja) since his tenure as environment and forest minister. |
