Re-election of Barrack Obama has evoked mixed response in India over the issue of outsourcing. The initial reactions have come from the World Economic Forum on India.
Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said that Obama’s win was very much expected and this is a good development for India. He however said that despite some concerns about the outsourcing which emerged in the previous election, India’s relations with the US would not be impacted.
Terming the development as “good”, Godrej Group Chairman Adi Godrej told reporters that both India and the US are large economies and there would be issues and concerns. He admitted that outsourcing is a concern while hoping that it would addressed.
The Indian IT industry contribute significant revenues to the US and European countries.
For NIIT Chairman Rajendra S Pawar the plain rhetoric about outsourcing will fade away with the elections. “It is good for America and Indian IT sector", he said.
In a separate reaction N Chandrasekaran, CEO & MD TCS said, "Now the focus will be on driving economic growth, which will lead to increased prosperity and greater job creation in the US, as well as act as a catalyst for growth across the world. Technology will play a strong role in driving the next phase of growth and Indian IT companies will have opportunity to play a significant role to partner with US companies to achieve this. This will lead to further job creation in the US and other parts of the world". |
