Vuclip, a mobile video and media company announced that its Vuclip Video app, exclusively designed for the Nokia Asha and other Nokia Series 40 devices has crossed 1 million downloads globally in November 2012.
In January 2012, Nokia announced it’s shipped the 1.5 billionth Series 40 device globally.
The Vuclip Video app serves global content on a wide range of categories such as clips from Bollywood, Hollywood and International movies, music, news, sports, celebrities, women, health and career.
The app has been available free of cost on the NokiaStore for Nokia Asha and other Series 40 devices since its launch in August 2011. The platform family consists of over 200 mobile handsets including the Asha phones. India led the country tally with an average of over 60% of the app downloads since its launch, and continues to be a leader in monthly downloads as well. In recent months, the app has also been witnessing an increased uptake in other countries such as Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
Nikhil Naik, Director, India Business, Vuclip, said “Crossing a mark of a million app downloads on one of the world's most widely used mobile phone platforms in a short span of just 16 months is a great booster for Vuclip.”
Commenting on the partnership with Vuclip, Gerard Rego, Director of Developer Experience, Nokia India, said, “The 1 million download mark on the Nokia Store is a huge achievement for Vuclip. It is a powerful offering that gives consumers an ultimate video viewing experience on their mobile screens. In addition to the Nokia phones based on Series 40, a large number of other Nokia phone users have also been accessing Vuclip through the Nokia browser.” |
