France Telecom which operates in 21 Middle East and African countries has said that it will be focusing on growth in Africa by making foray into Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso and Mauritania, according to reports.
Talking to media persons in London, Elie Girard, the group's head of strategy and development, said that the there are no plans for acquisitions it was expansion that the group is focusing on in Africa and middle east.
He said that the company intends to enter into management contacts in Libya and Algeria with telecom firms.
He said that it would be more lucrative for the company to make foray into Benin, Togo, Burkina (Faso) and Mauritania. The company already has presence in Mali and Senegal.
Orange is the third-largest mobile operator in the region, behind South Africa's MTN and Britain's Vodafone. |
