If the recent launch of launched Canvas HD (A116) a phablet MediaTek and Karbonn Smart Titanium 1 Karbonn Mobiles on Mondayby are any indication, MediaTek and Qualcomm will intensify their battle for the Indian market with their quad-core processors.
While Micromax’s Canvas HD (A116) comes with MediaTek’s quad-core platform, Karbonn Smart Titanium 1 - India’s first quad-core CPU smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
While MediaTek is hoping to made massive inroads into Indian market with its quad-core MT6589 smartphone platform, Qualcomm it is learnt to come out with similar chipset in 2013.
Though while talking to TelecomTiger, Finbarr Moynihan, General Manager- Business Development, MediaTek refused to comment on this possibility saying that the company did not like to comment directly on its competitors, both the chipset makers will try their best to capture Indian market.
Finbarr Moynihan said that the company wants to stay focused on our own platforms. “Our focus continues to be on delivery of as much performances as we can in competitive platforms market through our customers, whether by delivering video performance, gaming performance and good modem performance”
He said that in India, MediaTek’s focus will not be on feature phones and smartphones but will also be on tablets.
Micromax Canvas HD (A116) a phablet which will for sale in February.is priced at Rs. 15,000.
