Now, hackers attack Apple
TT Correspondent |  |  20 Feb 2013

Apple Inc has said that hackers have recently attacked  the Macintosh computers of some employees. The disclosure came after Facebook  a couple days back said that its network was attacked by hackers.

According to the reports, Apple said that the malware was employed in an attack against Apple and other companies, and was spread through a website for software developers.

Apple told Washington Post that it identified a small number of systems within Apple that were infected and isolated them from our network. There is no evidence that any data left Apple. “We are working closely with law enforcement to find the source of the malware”, it said.

Last week, Facebook disclosed that its service was attacked in January by some hackers “who want to disrupt or access our data and infrastructure.

“Last month, Facebook Security discovered that our systems had been targeted in a sophisticated attack. This attack occurred when a handful of employees visited a mobile developer website that was compromised. The compromised website hosted an exploit which then allowed malware to be installed on these employee laptops. The laptops were fully-patched and running up-to-date anti-virus software. As soon as we discovered the presence of the malware, we remediated all infected machines, informed law enforcement, and began a significant investigation that continues to this day”, it said.
