Idea Cellular which has a network of over 1,358 sites connecting over 26 lakh customers across all 13 districts in flood affected Uttarakhand has said it has restored its network in many cities.
“we have restored our services in many affected areas, allowing only a very short duration of network outage, and providing the critically needed access to stranded visitors and other subscribers” it said in a statement.
It said that About 3.23 lakh customers in the affected areas, whose main account balance was less than Rs. 5 have been credited with talktime of Rs. 10 to remain in touch with family and friends. Roaming subscribers from other circles will also get a similar facility.
It said that it has restored network coverage in major locations of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Tehri, Pauri & Tehri Garhwal, Dehradun, and Bageshwar. It is also offering emergency services to enable people to connect with their family and friends, and the concerned Government departments. Below is a list of few of our initiatives in this regard:
It has made emergency control room numbers of Uttarakhand Government - 01352710335, 01356555523, 01356555524, 09755444486 as well as the District control rooms toll free and communicated to customers in these areas.
Idea has set up a stall at the relief camp in Dehradun which is providing free PCO and Internet connectivity for people to contact with their families and friends. A similar camp is being set up in Haridwar also.
Idea has enabled ‘Emergency Talktime Facility’ offering Rs. 10 talktime for over 6 lakh customers in these areas. Users can access this facility if their account balance falls below Rs. 3. The amount will be recovered from their account on their next recharge.
