Bharti Airtel has appointed Christian de Faria as the new head of its Africa operations with effect from January 1, 2014.
He will report to Manoj Kohli who looks after the company's international operations has been heading the Africa operations since Airtel made its forays into the continent in 2010. Then struggling company is looking to new leadership to boost its revenues.

Faria will join Airtel Africa on September 16 as chief of the company's English-speaking markets, which comprises nine of the continent's 17 countries, or the Anglophone region, before taking overall charge, Bharti Airtel said on Wednesday.

"As CEO - Airtel Africa, Christian will be responsible for providing overall leadership for the African operations and will be fully empowered to manage its P&L," the statement said. .

“We have built a strong foundation for the next phase of growth of our Africa operations and are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. Manoj has successfully embedded our business model and the Airtel brand in Africa, and would now provide governance oversight to the international operations and be involved with the group strategic matters,” Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman, Bharti Airtel, said, in a statement.
