Gulf News selected Service2Media’s M2Active News App as the basis for their brand new mobile app offering. The comprehensive feature set, which includes video- and image galleries, citizen’s journalism, push messaging of breaking news and smooth connection to the existing backend systems, offered the functionality that matched the requirements and expectations of Gulf News.
The app could fully represent the Gulf News brand, including logos, colours and typographic styling, clearly differentiating from competing news providers. Third, as the app is built on the M2Active platform, it is available for multiple mobile operating systems and can be easily maintained when new OS updates are released. This protects future investments.
"Gulf News Media worked with Service2Media to build our latest mobile applications and we are very happy with the results. The project has provided us with important insights in managing the complexity of development in mobile today. It is an important proof point for future development,” Abdul Hamid Ahmad, Editor in Chief, Gulf News.
The Gulf News App features Service2Media’s M2Active Push service, which enables Gulf News to send instant news notifications to the app users at the moment it matters, even when the app is not active. The service seamlessly and transparently delivers these notifications over the Apple, Google, Microsoft and BlackBerry networks, and has the capacity to send millions of messages per minute. |
