Facebook Messenger for Android smartphones gets free voice calling feature for Indian users
TT Correspondent |  |  18 Mar 2014

Free calling is the new magnet for messaging Apps to attract and maintain their users. Facebook messenger has silently rolled out the Free Call option for its Android users in India.

Free Call feature is simple to use. One simply needs to open a message thread with a friend and tap on the Android menu button. The drop-down option will show a ‘Free Call’ option. If one does not see this option, it means that the person can't be called.

It was first introduced in March, last year, in Canada. Facebook has been slowly rolling it out in several markets around the world.

Until recently, such an option was available only on WhatsApp. Now, Facebook Messenger also has a similar feature that enables users in India to make free voice calls. Obviously, it will require a decent Internet speed.
