Samsung Galaxy S5 to come with two anti-theft features, Find My Mobile and Reactivation Lock
TT Correspondent |  |  07 Apr 2014

Samsung’s flagship smartphone Galaxy S5 is all set for 11 April launch in India. It is likely to be priced between INR 51,000 to 53,000. But, soon before its launch Samsung has introduced two anti-theft features of the device, i.e. Find My Mobile and Reactivation Lock.

The anti-theft features will come pre-installed on Galaxy S5 versions which are sold in US by Verizon and US Cellular. Also, Find My Mobile and Reactivation Lock will be available to download as well.

Find My Mobile works same as Apple’s Find My iPhone. It is an online service that will track and lock a stolen phone, wipe it clean, and alert users if someone tries to insert a different SIM card.

Reactivation Lock feature, if detects any abnormal attempt to reset a device to factory settings it will prompt users to login even after a successful reset, ensuring that if someone trying to steal the phone, they won’t be able to log back in.

To keep the device safe, both features need to be activated on the smartphones.
