After the successful acquisition of Nokia devices and services business by Microsoft, Nokia, on Tuesday has named India-born Rajeev Suri as its next CEO. Nokia also added that it would return an extra 1 billion euro’s to shareholders from the sale of its phone unit.

46 years-old Rajeev Suri has done Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunications) from Manipal Institute of Technology. Suri has been working with Nokia since 1995, and previously headed the Nokia Solutions and Networks division (previously known as Nokia Siemens Networks), since October 1, 2009. Suri is currently based in Espoo, Finland, but has worked in India with companies like ICL and RBG Group.
Nokia has said it would make an aggressive push this year to gain market share against industry leader Ericsson as well as Chinese rival Huawei. Nokia has also said it aims for year-on-year sales growth in the second half. |
