Satya Nadela ha completed his first 100 days as CEO of Microsoft. Microsoft had recently sent invites to a small and closed event in New York City. The text of the invite reads "Join us for a small gathering," which could very well be Microsoft hinting at the announcement of the rumoured Surface Mini device. The device is also rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm-based chipsets, instead of Nvidia Tegra SoCs.
Microsoft is expected to unveil the third generation of its Surface devices at an event on Tuesday, laying hints that it will also introduce a smaller tablet, to address the fast-selling lower end of the market dominated by Apple’s iPad mini, Amazon’s Kindle Fire, Google’s Nexus and Samsung’s Galaxy range, Reports, Reuters.
Reports that Microsoft could be working on an improved Surface Pro 2 tablet. The new Pro 2 slate is tipped to get a fresher version of Intel's super power efficient Haswell chip.
Since the launch of the Surface in 2012 the tablet didn’t see much sales as the iPad. The company has only generated $500 million revenue from Surface tablets during the last quarter.
The company now seems keen on boosting its presence on the tablet market with a new Surface Mini and Surface Pro 3. |
