After several years of successful cooperation, Opera Software and Telenor, announced an extension to their existing partnership. Telenor-owned operators can adopt even more Opera Software products such as Opera Max into their offering, following the signing of a partnership extension agreement.
“It is exciting to see the two leading Norwegian technology companies working together like this. The foundation for this partnership was created with Telenor Group four years ago, refreshed last summer with the Rocket Optimizer agreement, and now has been extended to further expand the reach and scope of our strategic cooperation. The complete package that Telenor has selected provides its operators access to the latest in cloud services and internet innovations, creating a platform for increased online engagement and monetizable digital assets”, said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.
“Opera Software has been one of our closest partners since we started our cooperation four years ago. Jointly, we have helped millions of Telenor customers getting affordable access to internet with a good experience. We are now further developing our cooperation to reach more customers with even better experiences,” says Rolv-Erik Spilling, Head of Telenor Digital.
With the partnership, Telenor Digital and Opera Software are setting a new standard in smartphone services. Products such as Opera Max, the co-branded Opera Mini web browser and Opera Web Pass are available for roll-out to Telenor subsidiaries globally, enabling a new portfolio of services:
• Opera Max gives Telenor operators worldwide a unique offering for their customers, ensuring an optimized experience and getting more from their mobile data subscriptions. The operator also gains a touch point with the consumers, with an integrated version of Opera Max on Telenor networks. Opera Max will turn the data traffic into a Telenor experience, at a time where apps have become the focal point of the user attention, thus increasing Telenor’s digital portfolio.
• Opera Web Pass is an offering for operators, which dramatically lowers the threshold for getting online, by having users purchase a data plan that suits them, instantly.
• Sponsored Web Pass: Opera Web Pass can be tailored to the needs of Telenor opcos, allowing users to benefit from the trend of sponsored internet access, paid by advertisers and sponsors, and delivered through the Sponsored Web Pass offering from Opera Software.
• The co-branded Opera Mini mobile web browser lets every mobile phone user, whether using a basic mobile phones all the way to the smartest of smartphones, to access the web and participate online. The co-branded Opera Mini offering has already been implemented in several Telenor opcos around the world for several years.
This partnership, and its product portfolio, is a real-world example of Telenor’s initiative “Internet for All”, as well as reflecting Opera Software’s participation with Internet.org, to bring the next billion users accessible and affordable internet. |
