Videocon Telecom plans to start its 4G mobile services in some circles, including Punjab, by the end of this year, company's Director and CEO Arvind Bali said on Monday, Reports PTI.
"By end of this year or latest by end of this financial year, we will launch 4G services in some circles," Bali told reporters in Chandigarh.
The 4G services will be launched including in Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
"We will be selling 4G at lesser than 2G rates," he said replying to a question, on the sidelines of company's youth engagement programme called 'Young Manch' for which Videocon has roped in Miss India-World-2015 Aditi Arya, who was also present.
Asked if the infrastructure was in place for the rollout of 4G services, he said the core service has been upgraded and the "radios over towers need to be replaced".
Bali said that an investment of around Rs. 550 crores is expected to be pumped in by end of this fiscal to roll out the 4G services in the identified circles.
"Our services will be launched on 1800 MHz band, which is more feasible for 4G rollout," he said, adding the customers will get high-speed connectivity.
About Bihar and parts of UP, he said, "we will start with 4G services."
Touching upon the Videocon subscriber base in Punjab, he said, "we have 35 lakh customers in Punjab and every month we are adding 2-2.5 lakh customers".
