In a bid to close the gap created by distance and time that prevents people from connecting, communicating and collaborating, Cisco on Tuesday unveiled new initiative- ‘Collaboration in Motion’.
The offering will remove the latency caused by distance and time to enable the network and the applications that run on it to cross boundaries, said Chris Thompson, Cisco''s senior director of mobility solutions.
The initiative, a suite of products and services, renders unified communication network with its integrated wired network, off-premises cellular network and a high performance Wi-Fi network.
Thereby, it allows users to enjoy a collaborative experience from any workspace.
“Evolving modern businesses are comprised of workspaces that are rarely physically connected, and critical business information is collected and shared with mobile devices, such as laptops and smartphones,” Ray Smets, vice president and general manager for the Cisco Wireless Networking Business Unit, said in a statement.
Collaboration in Motion offers a set of products and services from Cisco WebEx, Cisco Unified Communications, Cisco Unified Wireless Networks and Cisco Advanced Services product lines.
As a part of Collaboration in Motion initiative, Cisco will strive on building new tools and technologies in several key areas.
In order to create enhanced Workspace Experience, the company will develop network applications and software for the growing number of portable mobile devices, said the company.
For its Wireless Network platform, the company is working on more wireless network controllers and other products that use 802.11n technology. While 802.11n has still not been approved as a standard, more and more companies are stepping up products for the days to come.
Finally, for its professional services segment, the company will assist the customers switch from older wireless networks to 802.11n.
