Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) said today that it has achieved milestone with its mobile softswitching (MSS), which is being used by one-sixth of the Earth’s population for connecting with each other.
MSS, which has grown into a more preferred service than legacy switches, got the push from Nokia Siemens that has expanded its total delivered MSS capacity worldwide well past the 1 billion in April this year.
This also means that Nokia Siemens Networks’ solution is used for 40 percent of mobile softswitching worldwide and for over a one-fourth of all connections in those mobile networks based on the world-dominant GSM family of standards.
“These milestones are impressive indicators of how ubiquitous mobile connectivity has become. Knowing that one billion people all around the world are daily connecting through our mobile softswitch solution illustrates the trust that our customers place in us to positively support their core business,” said Jürgen Walter, head of Converged Core, Nokia Siemens Networks.
The figures released are based on actual operational subscriber capacity, as per customer traffic usage and represents the number of active subscribers that can be connected via the Nokia Siemens Networks MSS.
At present, Nokia Siemens Network’s softswitching technology is delivered in over 230 operators’ networks. |
