Motorola’s MIRS marches closer to sale with new information centre
TT Bureau |  |  22 Jun 2009

Israeli mobile operator MIRS Communications Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Motorola, is reportedly sought after by Shamrock Holdings, the investment arm of Walt Disney Co. for a stake in the country’s fourth largest operator.

iDEN operator, MIRS, which was put up for a sale earlier this month, is currently in its preliminary talks with the investment firm.

In order to pull out the sale more efficiently, Motorola is considering taking on a partner to help manage MIRS, as well as in selling the operator out-and-out.

Additionally, an information center will also be opened on July 15, once the investment bank Merrill Lynch completes its estimate of MIRS'' value and charts out a strategy for the sale.

Motorola is reportedly hoping to fetch $300 million from the sale.
