Motorola Inc. on Tuesday said that it has sold its Fiber-to-the-Node product portfolio to Communications Test Design Inc., an engineering, repair and logistic company, with effect from 2 July, 2009.
The sale, according to Motorola is expected to enable both companies focus on technologies that would grow their businesses and position their customers for success in the long-term.
“Motorola''s business focus has shifted from legacy FTTN networks to new deployments of Fiber-to-the-Premises technology by Tier 1 Telco customers around the world,” said Motorola's Joe Cozzolino, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Access Networks Solutions, Home and Networks Mobility.
However, financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.
Fiber-to-the-Node product of Motorola was first introduced to market in 1998 and is best known for being the first widely deployed video-over-DSL solution in the North American Telco TV market , the precursor to the current IPTV. |
