Idea shareholders approve move to hive off tower arm
TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  10 Jul 2009

In a filing to the BSE, Idea Cellular said that its shareholders have approved Board’s move to hive off its telecom tower infrastructure arm, Idea Cellular Towers Infrastructure. The arm with about 11,000 towers in its kitty will now be merged with Indus Towers, Idea’s JV with Airtel and Vodafone Essar.

While the Board had approved such a plan way back in 2007, the proposal required formal approval from shareholders and creditors.
