TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  12 Jul 2009

Indian software services major Infosys Technologies announced its Q1 results ended June 30, 2009 wherein it emerged that revenues from telecom business vertical contributed 16.9 % to the company’s total revenues. The telecom division ranks fourth among industry verticals for the company in terms of contribution to overall revenues.

The revenues from telecom industry stood at $ 189.62 million for the company. Contribution from telecom sector was at 16.7 % in March’09 quarter. However on a y-o-y basis the contribution from telecom vertical is on a fall when compared to 19.7 % contribution in June’08. The company said that sequentially telecom sector grew by 0.8% but on a constant currency basis the drop was 4.6%.

Overall the company registered revenues of $1,122 million with net income at $ 313 million (17% growth) and EPS at $ 0.55.

Contribution from North America market stood at 64.7% while from Europe contributed 24.7%. The company however remains poorly focused on the domestic market with India contributing only 0.9% to the overall revenues. Perhaps telecom is one vertical where the company should set its sight in the Indian market.
