Canadian major, Nortel which has slid into bankruptcy lost out its race to continue as official network infrastructure provider for Olympics 2012 to be held in London. The organizers announced that they have appointed Cisco as replacement for Nortel.
According to the organizers the move was taken amidst apprehensions on the very existence of Nortel till 2012.
"In order to deliver 'the most connected Games possible', LOCOG felt it was vital to work with a single business to cover the entire network infrastructure," the statement explains. "As a result, LOCOG and Nortel amicably decided to bring the current agreement to an end."
