Belgian cable operator Telenet on Wednesday signed on Alcatel-Lucent to construct, operate and maintain its latest next generation mobile core network and service creation infrastructure.
Flanders-based Telenet said Alcatel-Lucent will be the overall network integrator of the full mobile core, and of the value added service network components, as a part of a 7-year frame agreement, slated to be announced today.
However, the terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
The agreement follows Telenet’s extension of strategic partnership with Belgian mobile telecom firm Mobistar in February this year.
At that time, the operator said the partnership had evolved into a full Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) agreement, implying that Telenet would develop its own technical infrastructure, but would collaborate with Mobistar on voice and data radio infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Telenet has also inked a deal with Comverse Technology Inc, a provider of billing software. |
